Orders and delivery

How long does delivery take?

Every Kauni garment is knitted in our own workshop in Pärnu, Estonia. Most orders are knitted, finished and shipped within two weeks – items in stock leave sooner. After dispatch, delivery takes 1–3 business days in Estonia, 3–6 to Latvia, Lithuania and Finland, 3–9 to other EU countries, 5–13 to the UK, Norway and Switzerland and 7–26 to the rest of the world. You will receive a tracking link by email as soon as your parcel is on its way.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping is free on all orders over 300 €, to every destination. Below that, the price is calculated at checkout based on your address and the weight of the parcel – for example 3,30 € to a SmartPosti parcel machine in Estonia, approx. 10–13 € to other EU countries and approx. 20–27 € to the USA, Canada, Japan and Australia. All prices are on the shipping and payments page.

Do I have to pay customs or import duties?

Within the European Union there are no customs fees. For orders shipped outside the EU (for example the USA, United Kingdom, Norway or Switzerland), import duties and the customs handling fee are calculated and prepaid at checkout, so there is nothing extra to pay when your parcel arrives.

Which payment methods can I use?

Cards (Visa, Mastercard and other major cards), Apple Pay, Google Pay, Link, PayPal and Klarna where available. In the Baltics, Finland and Poland you can also pay by bank link, pay later or hire purchase via Montonio, in Belgium with Bancontact and in Austria with EPS. Payments are processed securely by Stripe, PayPal and Montonio – we never see or store your card details. The methods shown at checkout depend on your country.

Can I return or exchange an item?

Yes – within 30 days of receipt, if the item is new and unused, with the original packaging and labels. Write to [email protected] with your order number and you will receive a return authorisation number. Refunds are made to the original payment method within 7–10 business days after we receive the item. Shipping fees are non-refundable and return shipping is paid by the customer, unless the return is due to our mistake. Custom or personalised items may not be returnable. Full details are in our terms and conditions.

Material and making

What is Kauni knitwear made of?

Our yarns are 100% wool or 100% merino wool – we never mix in synthetic fibres. The wool comes from trusted farms in Sweden, Estonia, Norway, the UK and New Zealand, it is mulesing-free, and our yarns are Woolmark and OEKO-TEX certified. The exact material of each product is listed on its product page.

Where and how is Kauni knitwear made?

In our own workshop in Pärnu, Estonia. Garments are knitted mostly on hand-operated knitting machines in small batches, then assembled and finished by hand by our seamstresses. Each knitted part is washed and dried before assembly, and the finished garment gets a gentle extra wash that softens the wool. Kauni was founded in 1996.

How do I care for wool knitwear?

Wool needs little washing – airing is usually enough. When needed, hand wash at 30°C with a wool detergent (no enzymes or bleach) or use the wool cycle at 30°C with a gentle spin of 400–500 rpm, one item at a time. Shape the garment while damp, dry it flat away from direct sunlight and do not tumble dry. Store it folded in a cool, dry place. More tips in the size and care guide.

Will the colour look exactly like in the photos?

Screens show colours differently, so the shade on your screen may differ slightly from the real garment or yarn. If you are unsure about a colour, ask us at [email protected] before ordering.

Sizes

How do I find my size?

Kauni garments come in sizes XS–XXL. Each product page has a Measurements tab with the garment’s measurements, and the size guide lists bust, waist, hip and length for every model. Comparing them with a garment that fits you well is the easiest way to choose.

Can I order a garment made to my measurements?

Yes. Because our garments are made in small batches, we can knit custom wool knitwear tailored to your measurements. Write to [email protected] for custom size orders.

Yarn

Which yarns does Kauni sell?

Classic wool yarn 8/2 – 100% wool, sport weight (CYC 2), 150 g ≈ 600 m, needles 2.5–4 mm. Merino wool yarn 9/2 – 100% merino, fingering weight (CYC 1), 100 g = 450 m, needles 3.5–4 mm. We also have gradient wool yarn 8/2. Compare all shades in the colour chart.

How much yarn do I need?

A classic M-size pullover takes about 6 skeins (±900 g) of our 150 g yarn, a longer cardigan 7–8 skeins, socks 1 skein per pair and a hat about half a skein. Order one extra – dye lots vary, and we cannot guarantee a match later.

Do you sell wholesale or make corporate gifts?
